Our 
Story

North Texas Legal Defense was established to create a legal representation corridor between Fort Worth and Amarillo. Our founding partner gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and connected with unforgettable individuals in the panhandle. This firm is created to further create more legal options for individuals living in rural counties, to truly have access to an attorney who understands the ecosystem of rural counties yet creates a clear distinction between prosecutorial motives and client best interests.  Our hope is through legal representation individuals in the panhandle feel like they have more options in legal representation and for Tarrant County clients to open their minds in understanding how vital the Panhandle is to the great state of Texas.

About

Mrs. Diona Johnson Esq.

Diona is a Fort Worth native, who graduated second in her class from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Upon graduation, Diona attended Texas Christian University where she was very involved serving cabinet level positions for various student organizations. During her time at TCU, she was able to peacefully organized students in solidarity against social issues and meet with university leadership to pose enhancements to the student experience. After four years, Diona had her eyes set on law school and attended Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando, Florida.

 

While in law school, she worked for a Criminal Appeals Law Firm, The Bronx Defenders in New York City, and Regional Conflict Counsel in Florida. Through those experiences she gained first handle knowledge, and developed expertise Child Protective Services family law representation, drafted Habeas Corpus Briefs, and developed a skillset to spot competency issues. In 2020, Diona began doing immigration work navigating the stringent requirements to get immigration approvals for business or family purposes. After nearly three years working in Immigration, Diona returned to her first passion which is criminal defense. For nearly two years Diona represented hundreds of clients across Potter County, Deaf Smith County, Moore County. During that period of time, she represented clients in at least 4 felony jury trials and consistently beat the initial plea offers given by opposing counsel.

With the skills necessary to provide zealous representation Diona felt it was time to benefit her hometown with her legal acumen while still serving the clients she grew fond of in the Panhandle.
